Huaihua's Golden Pomelos Make Debut in Overseas Market

A batch of 19 tons of golden pomelos produced in Huaihua's Hongjiang City was recently exported to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after completing inspection procedures at the Huaihua Customs authority. This marks the debut of Huaihua's golden pomelo in overseas markets.

The golden pomelo is a specialty fruit in Hongjiang City. Thanks to plentiful rainfall and sunshine in the production region, Hongjiang's golden pomelos feature high quality, good taste, and rich nutrition that is 55 times greater than ordinary pomelos. Ripening in December each year, golden pomelos can be preserved at room temperature for six to ten months. Huaihua is thus known as the "City of Golden Pomelos in China".

After being preserved throughout the winter, golden pomelos have better taste in spring, said a manager of the exporting company. The company will further expand golden pomelo export based on the feedback of the UAE market.

In order to promote Huaihua products going global, the Huaihua Customs Authority has designated working staff to assist enterprises and orchards in their registration. It has opened a "green channel" for fruit export, ensuring timely completion of the customs inspection and clearance procedures. Moreover, Huaihua Customs will roll out a series of measures to prioritize registration and free inspection for the exporting businesses, continuing to boost and expand export of local specialty agricultural products.
