[National Geographical Indication Products] Xuefeng Mountain Herba Houttuyniae

On May 7, the Hunan Administration of Quality Technology Supervision announced five newly approved national geographical indication products for Hunan Province. They are: Xuefeng Mountain herba houttuyniae; Huitong amorphophallus konjac; Xinhuang Dong red rice; Longshan lilium; and Deshan Daqu liquor. 

Herba houttuyniae is originated in Xuefeng Mountain area. Currently the area has 10 specialized cooperatives and 106 large growers, with a cultivated area of 5,000 mu (about 333 ha.). The annual production of lilium bulbs is 15,000 tons, with an output value of 120 million CNY.

Background Information 
Houttuynia cordata, also known as fish mint, fish leaf, rainbow plant, chameleon plant, heart leaf, fish wort, Chinese lizard tail, or bishop's weed, is a herbaceous perennial plant that is used in traditional Chinese medicine or as a fresh herbal garnish.
