Jianghua Yao Folk Song Festival

In April 2026, the Yao Folk Song Festival kicked off in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County. Over 20,000 local residents took part, gathering in small groups to sing and engage in friendly song competitions. More than ten traditional types of Yao folk songs were performed, including Wuzhou songs, butterfly songs, Badu songs, and Jintian folk songs. This vibrant event brought ancient Yao folk songs back to life, creating a springtime musical feast in the mountains and fields, and highlighting the unique charm of Jianghua as the "Home of Yao Folk Songs."

Singers from four neighboring Yao communities—Jianghua, Daoxian, and Jiangyong in Hunan, as well as Fuchuan in Guangxi—came together to share emotions and build friendships through song. Their gathering showcased the distinctive culture and traditions of the Yao people, while jointly advancing the integrated development of culture and tourism across Yao-inhabited regions. Together, they sang a hymn of unity, strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation and contributing to the building of a shared spiritual homeland.

Rooted in the inheritance, protection, and innovative development of Yao culture, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County has been striving to build a Yao cultural tourism brand in recent years. It has already hosted various Yao ethnic festivals and festive events such as the Panwang Festival, the Cattle King Festival, the Fire Dragon and Lion Dance Lantern Festival, the Yao Medicine and Herb Festival, and the Yao Folk Song Festival.
