Ethnic Minority Townships Celebrate 40th Founding Anniversary

On March 14, 2023, people of ethnic minorities dressed in festive costumes got together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of Guanxia Miao Township and Changpuzi Miao and Dong Township in Suining County, Shaoyang City.

Guanxia and Changpuzi are the first two ethnic minority townships in Suining County, with an ethnic minority population of more than 50,000. Over the past 40 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the governments, the people of the two townships have worked hard and forged ahead boldly, and made steady progress in the coordinated development of economy and society.

In recent years, Changpuzi Miao and Dong Township has made constant efforts to optimize industrial development, guarantee the wellbeing of people, implement the rural revitalization strategy, and boost key projects construction. The township economy is prosperous, people's livelihood has been improved, and the township has taken on a new look.

Guanxia Miao Township has given priority to featured agriculture, agricultural product processing, and featured tourism, to build itself into a strong township in industry, agriculture, and tourism. It has enhanced infrastructure construction, leading to significant economic growth and improvements in people's livelihood. The per capita income of residents in the township reached 16,036 yuan in 2022.

The Hunan National Religious Affairs Committee and the Shaoyang Municipal People's Government presented plaques of congratulations to the two townships.

Miao and Dong people in the two townships were dressed in traditional national costumes, and staged folk performances with ethnic characteristics such as folk songs, "spring ox" show and straw dragon dance.
