Dong People Celebrate Yanfan Festival

On August 23, 2022, villagers played the lusheng, a reed-pipe wind instrument, and pipa, a pear-shaped stringed instrument, to celebrate the Yanfan Festival at Shuita Village, Boyang Town, Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. As autumn harvest season comes, Dong villages across the county have held activities to mark the Yanfan Festival. Villagers carried steamed glutinous rice, salted fish and meat, cooked chicken and duck meat beside the creeks or rice fields to hold sacrificial activities. They enjoyed the Yanfan Festival food together to pray for health and celebrate a good harvest. (Photo/Liu Qiang)
