Wishal: Valentine’s day
Every February almost all across the world cards, chocolates, flowers and gift vendors do phenomenal business as part of celebrating Valentine ’s Day. Originally a Christian holiday, most people today take it as a celebration of love rather than a religious occasion.
Valentine is essentially the shortened version of St. Valentine. There are various stories and legends attached to the day. According to one myth, Valentine was a soldier in Rome who used to perform marriages for young lovers in a time when young soldiers were forbidden to tie the knot by Emperor Claudius. When Valentine’s actions were discovered he was ordered to death.
Another legend says that Valentine, in prison, fell in love with a young girl. Before his death he sent that girl a letter signed with "From your Valentine".
All the stories portray him as a romantic figure and symbol of love. In order to celebrate this friends and lovers started to exchange gifts, cards and handwritten notes. Some of the most famous Valentine’s Day quotes are as follows:
• "Weddings now are all the go, Will you marry me or no?" written originally in 1850
• "My dearest Miss, I send thee a kiss" written in 1862
• "If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand."
• "Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all." Written by St. Augustine
• "Love cures people - both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it."

• Cheapest: Just say how much the other person means to you
In case you have no one to share this day with you can always just pamper yourself and hope next year that won’t be the case.
