Hunan's postal and telecommunication service achieved a total turnover of 134.786 billion yuan in 2016. Telecommunication service played a primary role, making a turnover of 120.449 billion yuan. The number of broadband network users in Hunan Province has exceeded ten million by the end of 2016.
Hunan launched 4G pilot network construction in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan in May of 2013, and put it into trial commercial use next February. Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtang (CZT) City Cluster was approved as one of the first batch of Broadband China demonstration cities (city cluster) in 2014 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and the National Development and Reform Commission. By the end of 2016, 4G clients throughout Hunan Province added up to 33.9888 million. Mobile phone users reached 49.912 million.
Along with e-commerce development, postal service surged in the province in recent years. The postal business of 2016 topped 14.337 billion yuan, up 37.7% year on year, and realized a total revenue of 10.955 billion yuan, up 39.2%. A total of 486 million deliveries were made in 2016, making a revenue of 5.16 billion yuan, contributing to almost half of the total of postal business.
Hunan Administration of broadcasting, film and television has completed basic network integration. The broadcasting coverage rate reaches 92.95% and TV coverage rate reaches 97.17%.
