Hunan Qiyun Peak National Forest Park

Hunan Qiyun Peak National Forest Park is located at the heart of the golden tourist circle connecting Hunan, Guangdong, and Jiangxi provinces, and is a nationally renowned fertile land rich in natural resources and revolutionary heritage. The forest park consists of three mutually independent areas--Nanhua, Santaishan, and Qiyun Peak, with an average elevation of 1,311 meters and a total area of 120.78 square kilometers, accounting for 8.31% of the county's total land area. It is a large national forest park featuring both mountain and suburban landscapes.

The forest park features rich and varied natural landscapes, with a forest coverage rate of 92.47% and an average negative oxygen ions concentration of 35,800 per cubic centimeter. The park preserves a relatively intact natural ecosystem and nurtures unique biological communities. It is praised as a natural treasure house of species and genetic resources, while also serving as an important ecological security barrier in southeastern Hunan. The park currently has 1,577 species of vascular plants in 798 genera and 209 families, including three species of national first-class protected plants and 13 species of national second-class protected plants. It is home to 231 species of terrestrial vertebrates in 63 families, including two species of national first-class protected animals and 24 species of national second-class protected animals. The park lies along China's second-largest bird migration route, with 61 species of winter migratory birds.

The park's geological resources are unique and spectacular, integrating wonder, steepness, pristineness, and tranquility, and bringing together peaks, forests, cliffs, and waterfalls. The three major areas contain 125 scenic spots across five categories, with cultural attractions such as the Wanwangcheng Ruins, Wenfeng Tower, the Red Army battlefield site, Qiyun precipice, Qiyun stone scenery, and Qiyun Lake. It is also world-renowned for its typical Nanling vegetation, large expanses of primary broad-leaved forest, the world's highest-altitude natural stone bridge—Xianyuan Bridge, alpine meadows, terraced cascades, Caonao Waterfall, long-bracted hemlock community, and Xian'ewan Grand Canyon.
