Taking the opportunity of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Africa (Morocco), Changsha Vice Mayor Zheng Ping led a government-business delegation to Egypt on June 7 and 8, 2026. The delegation carried out economic and trade promotion and matchmaking visits, assisting Changsha-Egypt industrial alignment and practical cooperation. Wu Zhaoshu, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and director of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and relevant officials from the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Finance, the People's Government of Changsha County, and the People's Government of Ningxiang County-level City, joined the delegation.

On June 7, Changsha Vice Mayor Zheng Ping held discussions with Hesham Sheta, chairman of the International Investment Group and president of the Income Company of the International Investment Group in Egypt.
This visit featured a tight schedule and extensive matchmaking areas. On June 7, the delegation visited the Egyptian Automobile Association, Egypt's Income Company of the International Investment Group, and Standard Chartered Bank. They engaged in in-depth exchanges on such topics as exports of new energy vehicles, localized production of auto parts and components, infrastructure project cooperation, and cross-border financial services, reaching multiple preliminary cooperation consensuses. On June 8, the delegation paid calls on the Egyptian Commercial Service, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, and Elsewedy Electric Company. They focused on exploring collaboration opportunities in such fields as construction machinery, ecological and environmental protection, and energy equipment, facilitating multiple cooperative intentions. Changsha and Egypt have solid foundation for economic and trade partnership, with total bilateral imports and exports reaching one billion yuan in 2025. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade exchanges have continued to heat up, and cooperation potential continues to be unleashed.
Vice Mayor Zheng noted that Changsha boasts multiple national-level strategic platforms such as the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Pioneering Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. In particular, leveraging the two major China-Africa platforms, Changsha and Egypt have further strengthened cooperation. Meanwhile, Changsha is home to seven 100-billion-yuan-level industrial clusters, including construction machinery, new energy vehicles, and energy conservation and environmental protection. Changsha's industrial advantages align closely with Egypt's development needs, offering broad cooperation prospects.
She expressed her hope that the two sides will take trade integration as a guide to expand mutually beneficial economic and trade scale; use industrial synergy as support to deepen grounded and localized production capacity cooperation; and, view diversified exchanges as a bond to establish a regular communication and matchmaking mechanism. Both sides may organize activities such as mutual enterprise visits, technical seminars, market surveys, and policy dialogues, continuously creating more room for trade, investment, and technical cooperation. Vice Mayor Zheng also sincerely invited people from all sectors in Egypt to visit Changsha next year to participate in the 5th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, jointly exploring cooperation opportunities and pushing China-Egypt economic and trade exchanges to a new level.
