The 2026 Hunan Provincial Culture and Tourism Work Conference was held on January 19. It said that Hunan Province welcomed 2.4065 million inbound tourist visits in 2025, with total tourist expenditure reaching 1.409 billion USD. Compared with the same period last year, these figures increased by 19.08% and 25.47% respectively.

In 2025, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, in collaboration with 18 government departments, issued 12 measures to promote the development of Hunan's inbound tourism. Hunan Province took the lead nationwide by convening a special conference on advancing inbound tourism under the auspices of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.

The official launch of the Greater Zhangjiajie International Tourism Zone in 2025 aims to establish it as a premier secondary destination for inbound tourists. Throughout the year, eight international cultural exchange projects were organized and implemented, with promotional tours for Hunan's cultural and tourism offerings conducted in 12 countries and regions overseas.
