The 2026 Changsha International Green Intelligent Construction and Building Industrialization Expo (ICBIE) is being held from June 25 to 27 at the Changsha International Convention and Exhibition Center. What surprises await visitors? What cutting-edge intelligent construction technologies are on display? The reporter got a sneak peak at the venue on June 24.

Inside the venue, most brand exhibition areas have been set up, while a few were still getting final touches. The expo features five major exhibition areas—smart equipment, building industrialization, intelligent construction, "quality homes," and urban renewal. Exhibits from participating companies were in place, showcasing cutting-edge technology.

Global top 50 construction machinery companies, including SANY Group, Zoomlion, and Sunward Intelligent Equipment, are featured at the smart equipment exhibition area. In the outdoor exhibition area, Zoomlion's engineering cranes, concrete pump trucks, and aerial work machinery, are lined up. Hot-selling products such as the world's tallest 82-meter straight-boom aerial work platform and the 70-meter light-hybrid new energy pump truck are on display. The exhibits here primarily serve housing construction, most of which are new energy powered and suited for urban construction scenarios.

Inside the exhibition area of the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group, a row of "skyscraper building machine" models are eye-catching. Staff member Li Roufeng said that the building machine for prefabricated dwellings adopts a modular independent ground-supported structure. With this structure, the machine can not only meet the load-bearing requirements of large equipment like overhead cranes, but can also move up and down independently outside the building. This technology can help reduce the risk of exterior wall openings and water leakage, while boosting overall efficiency by about 30%. It has been put into application on several projects, including CCTEC Hanxin Mansion.

What makes a house a "quality home"? The "quality homes" exhibition area focuses on integrated solutions for quality living, prefabricated interiors, and whole-house smart home systems. The integrated floor insulation and soundproofing product can deliver 58-decibel sound insulation, while the integrated insulation structure for exterior walls helps prevent wall detachment and hollow blistering, said Qu Can, general manager of the Shenyu Building Co., Ltd., at the company's booth. "Both the exterior walls and floors can be factory-produced as integrated units, making quality more controllable," he added.

The urban renewal exhibition area offers a wealth of highlights. Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Yongzhou and other cities across the province have set up booths, showcasing key projects and model cases in old residential community renovation, neighborhood revitalization and historical building preservation. The China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau is showcasing its Smart Urban Operation System as a "smart brain" for urban management. Product manager Zhang Chao introduced that the system is established on a "one-network, one-database, one-map, one-base, one-platform" architecture and can connect to hundreds of millions of devices, thereby providing smart support for sanitation, utility tunnel management, and road infrastructure operations.
