The China (Hunan)–Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium was held on June 9 in Casablanca, Morocco. It aimed to deepen practical bilateral economic and trade exchanges between China and Morocco and connect supply and marketing channels for enterprises from Hunan and Morocco. Representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises and business associations in Africa, as well as business associations and enterprises from Morocco and neighboring African countries attended the meeting.

As a supporting event for the 2026 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Africa (Morocco), the symposium focused on three core tasks: assessing the actual operations of enterprises across various industries in China and Morocco, identifying supply-demand cooperation potential, and collecting opinions and suggestions from relevant businesses. Through in-depth face-to-face communication, the event aimed to pinpoint cooperation pain points, clarify collaboration pathways, and leverage provincial-level coordination to promote resource matching and complementary advantages between enterprises. These efforts seek to amplify the effectiveness of two-way trade and industrial investment cooperation and steadily create more room for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

The China Road and Bridge Corporation Morocco Office and the Huawei Morocco Representative Office shared their experiences on project implementation, industrial layout, and localized operations in various African countries, while some Moroccan enterprises presented African investment and business opportunities.

In recent years, leveraging the two national-level platforms of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Pioneering Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation, Hunan has ranked among the top in China's central and western regions in terms of economic and trade scale with Africa. Yu Hongsheng, vice governor of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, noted that Hunan will implement pro-business policies, optimize customs clearance and investment and financing channels, and reduce cross-border costs for enterprises. The province will utilize the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal service and overseas warehouses to connect production and sales chains, establishing point-to-point matching mechanisms to address operational difficulties. The province will rely on leading enterprise clusters to expand overseas, consolidating cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, and manufacturing while exploring new tracks in green energy and digital economy and trade, thereby improving foreign-related services and supporting Hunan enterprises in achieving stable operations in Africa.

The 2026 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Africa (Morocco) is scheduled to be held from June 10 to 12 in Casablanca, Morocco. The event marks Hunan's first major overseas economic and trade endeavor in Africa since China fully implemented a zero-tariff policy for 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations.
