On October 29, the 2026 "Gathering Overseas Chinese to Revitalize Hunan · Overseas Chinese Contribute to Changde" Hunan-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Changde. Li Jianzhong, vice chairperson of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended and delivered a speech.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and African countries, and is also the "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges" agreed upon by President Xi Jinping and African leaders. Hunan has kept President Xi Jinping's instructions in mind, actively exploring new paths for local cooperation with Africa, and promoting sustained and steady progress in Hunan-Africa exchanges and cooperation. Cooperation between Hunan and Africa has a long history, a solid foundation, and broad prospects. It is hoped that overseas Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs will use overseas Chinese as a bridge, as a bond for unity, and as a source of strength. They will serve as pioneers in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, promoters of people-to-people bonds, and guardians of Hunan-Africa security and development, building bridges and contributing their efforts to deepening practical cooperation between Hunan and Africa. Departments at all levels across the province should strengthen coordination and collaboration, promote the joint construction and sharing of platforms and resources, precisely implement policies benefiting overseas Chinese and enterprises, and improve services for the prevention and mitigation of foreign-related risks. These efforts will help overseas Chinese entrepreneurs do business abroad with peace of mind and invest in their hometowns with confidence.
Promotional videos for investment in Hunan Province and Changde City were screened at the event, and the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and Changde City respectively made investment promotion presentations. Changde City reached a memorandum of understanding with Cassengo Municipality, Lunda Sul Province, Angola to deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation, and presented letters of appointment to four Changde advisors for the trade with Africa.
At the event, three thematic matchmaking sessions were also held. Local enterprises from Changde, overseas Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs from Africa, business associations of African countries in China, representatives of specially invited enterprises, as well as representatives from the Hunan Lawyers Association and provincial and municipal federations of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on industrial cooperation, economic and trade relations, market expansion, and risk prevention and control, jointly exploring new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between Hunan and Africa.
