The Department of Commerce of Hunan Province recently held a media publicity coordination symposium for the 2026 Hunan-Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Event. It was learned that the 2026 session, themed "Hunan Meets the Yangtze Delta, Chains Drive a New Future," will be held in Shanghai from November 4 to 6. Concurrently with the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the event aims to leverage the CIIE spillover effects to attract and utilize foreign investment.

The general arrangement of the event will be a "4+9+N" model, consisting of four major activities, nine thematic activities, and several targeted investment promotion activities by cities, autonomous prefecture, and industrial parks. Among them, the roundtable meeting for foreign-funded enterprise is one of the major activities, focusing on next-generation information technology, biomedicine and medical devices, intelligent manufacturing, and other fields. The meeting will enable face-to-face exchanges with well-known multinational corporations from the Yangtze River Delta that are investing or intend to invest in Hunan.

The event closely follows Hunan's "4+N" future industrial development approach, focusing on fields such as frontier materials, embodied intelligence, biomanufacturing, green hydrogen, and other tracks. It will hold a special promotion event for new materials and a promotion conference for the advanced steel materials industry in Hunan, a promotion conference for artificial intelligence industry, a promotion conference for biomedicine and medical devices industry, and a special promotion conference for innovative cooperation in new energy and new track industries. The new energy special meeting will focus on releasing investment promotion directions such as sodium-ion battery and green hydrogen, hold a roundtable dialogue on the energy storage industry, and advance the implementation of a number of industrial chain projects such as hydrogen production equipment and hydrogen fuel cells.

A spokesperson for the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province introduced that the 2026 session is the first key economic and trade event led by the provincial commercial authority after the establishment of provincial investment promotion coordination mechanism. The event will form a structure of coordinated by provincial-level authorities, organized by cities and autonomous prefecture, and undertaken by industrial parks. The chain chiefs of key provincial industrial chains will attend the special promotion conferences for relevant industrial chains, and lead teams to inspect multinational corporations and industry-leading enterprises. Cities, autonomous prefecture, and industrial parks will actively integrate into the general arrangement, implementing economic and trade communications through targeted team door-to-door visits, targeted project matchmaking, and Hunan entrepreneur talkfests. This aims to comprehensively explore cooperation intentions to achieve collaboration results.
