On May 13, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, met in Changsha with a delegation led by Wu Zhaohui, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and deputy secretary of the CPC CAS Leadership Group.

On behalf of the CPC provincial committee and the provincial government, Secretary Shen and Governor Mao welcomed Wu Zhaohui and his entourage, and extended gratitude to CAS for its long-term support to Hunan. Secretary Shen noted that Hunan is thoroughly implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speeches and directives regarding Hunan's work, being fully committed to developing itself into a national hub for important and advanced manufacturing industries, a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and a pacesetter for reform and the opening-up of China's inland regions. He added that the province regards the initiative of actively aligning with national strategic strength in science and technology as a concrete measure to implement President Xi Jinping's important instructions. Secretary Shen expressed the hope that CAS will continue to care for and support Hunan as always, deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges in areas such as the integration of culture with science and technology, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology, and work together to effectively implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee. 

Wu Zhaohui noted that CAS and Hunan Province have established a solid foundation for cooperation and achieved fruitful results. He expressed the hope that province-academy collaboration will be further advanced in areas such as the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, technological breakthroughs and the commercialization of research outcomes, and talent cultivation. He added that the two sides will accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces and better serve national strategic needs and regional development.

Also present were provincial leaders Wu Guiying and Yu Hongsheng, and Wang Keqiang, vice president and member of the CPC CAS Leadership Group.
