On April 27, it was learned from the Hunan Provincial Postal Administration that in the first quarter (Q1), the total business revenue of Hunan's postal sector (excluding direct operating income of the Postal Savings Bank) reached 9.885 billion CNY, up 5.09 percent year on year. Within this, the express delivery sector generated 6.584 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 3.91 percent.

In Q1, the total volume of postal and delivery services in the province reached 1.265 billion items, down 0.78 percent year on year. Among this, express delivery volume totaled 1.12 billion items, a decrease of 0.59 percent. The increase in revenue against a backdrop of declining volume suggests the sector is steadily shifting toward a higher-quality development model.

By service type, domestic inter-city express delivery maintained an overwhelmingly dominant position, while the international delivery business, including the areas of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, saw strong growth. From January to March, inter-city express delivery volume reached 1.044 billion items, accounting for 93.14 percent of the total express volume. The volume of international delivery business, including the areas of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, reached 3.9165 million items, up 43.4 percent year on year.

Traditional postal services showed clear divergence, with parcel business surging while letters and newspaper subscriptions continued to decline. From January to March, parcel volume reached 226,600 items, up 49.97 percent year on year. Postal money order transactions totaled 5,200, down 33.33 percent year on year, reflecting the ongoing trend of digital substitution.

By geographical distribution, eastern Hunan (Changsha and Zhuzhou) accounted for the largest share of express delivery volume and revenue, reinforcing its status as the province's leading express delivery hub. From January to March, eastern Hunan contributed 65.14 percent of the province's express delivery volume and 62.37 percent of its revenue.
