Recently, workers of a company at Shuangpai County Bamboo and Wood Industry Technology Park were racing against time to produce all-bamboo outdoor panels and truck floorboards destined for Japan, Europe, and other markets. According to a spokesperson for the company, the export orders have already booked up through June this year. 

Shuangpai County boasts 300,000 mu (approximately 20,000 hectares) of bamboo forests, yielding over 10 million mature bamboos annually. Among these, 160,000 mu (approximately 10,666 hectares) of bamboo forests have passed the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, providing premium materials for bamboo building materials, furniture, and handicrafts. The county is home to 11 large-scale bamboo product processing enterprises, seven national high-tech enterprises, and two provincial-level SMEs that specialize in niche sectors. Currently, all these enterprises have resumed operations after the spring festival, with over 90% of them having orders booked up through the end of April this year.

"The synergy of natural endowments and technological empowerment is driving high-quality development of the county's bamboo industry, resulting in robust production and sales of bamboo products," explained Jiang Haijun, head of the Bamboo Industry Office at Shuangpai County Forestry Bureau. Shuangpai is seizing the opportunity presented by the "Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic Initiative," establishing a 10-million-yuan industrial development fund, and actively collaborating with universities and research institutions. The International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan and a team led by Academician Wu Yiqiang have conducted 64 research projects in Shuangpai, resulting in the commercialization of 19 research findings, securing 30 patents, and developing 22 new products. These innovations involve outdoor bamboo building materials, bamboo scrimber, bamboo furniture, and bamboo handicrafts.
