Xiamen Airlines launched its inaugural direct international flights from Changsha to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur on February 7, 2026. This marked the airline's first-ever international routes connecting Changsha with these two destinations. The new services provide additional air travel options for passenger exchanges between Hunan Province and ASEAN countries during the Spring Festival travel rush, further supporting Hunan's deep integration into the Belt and Road Initiative.
At 11:05 on February 7, flight MF8643 of Xiamen Airlines carrying 156 passengers landed smoothly at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok. The Xiamen Airlines Hunan Branch held an inaugural flight ceremony at Terminal 2 of Changsha Huanghua International Airport on the same day, offering dedicated check-in counters and diverse interactive activities. The first three flights on this route all achieved passenger loads of over 80%, indicating a strong market demand.
At 12:09 on the same day, flight MF8015 of Xiamen Airlines departed from Changsha Huanghua International Airport with 157 passengers on board, marking the inaugural flight of the direct route between Changsha and Kuala Lumpur. This was the second newly-added international direct route launched by Xiamen Airlines in Hunan that day. The successful maiden voyages further expanded the aviation network connecting Changsha with ASEAN countries, offering travelers more travel options.
Both the Changsha-Bangkok and Changsha-Kuala Lumpur routes are scheduled to operate daily during the Spring Festival travel rush.
