Recently, Zhang Jian, vice chairperson of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), chairperson of the Hunan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, and chief of the Hunan Provincial Biomedical and Medical Device Industrial Chain, led a delegation to conduct research and hold a symposium in the Airport Block, Changsha Area, China (Hunan) Free Trade Zone. Meng Lixiang, deputy secretary of the CPC Working Committee and director of the Administrative Committee of the Airport Block, Changsha Area, China (Hunan) Free Trade Zone; Yu Qing, deputy director of Customs at Changsha Huanghua International Airport; Wang Wenkai, vice chairperson of the CPPCC Changsha County Committee and chairperson of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of Changsha County; and Qin Fang, member of the CPC Working Committee and deputy director of the Administrative Committee of the Airport Block, Changsha Area, China (Hunan) Free Trade Zone, attended the event.
Prior to the meeting, Zhang Jian and his delegation visited Changsha Geneplus Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Hunan Huake Biotechnology Co., Ltd. They toured the companies' exhibition halls, visited their laboratories, and listened attentively as company executives provided detailed accounts of their development history and future plans.
At the symposium, representatives from the Airport Block provided an overview of the development of its pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Representatives from participating companies then took turns presenting their company profiles, the difficulties and challenges they face in their development, and their plans for 2025. In response to the companies' concerns, representatives from the relevant industry regulatory authorities addressed each issue individually.
Over the past three years, more than 40 healthcare and pharmaceutical projects have been established in the Airport Block, Changsha Area, China (Hunan) Free Trade Zone, covering fields such as pharmaceutical R&D, pharmaceutical logistics and retail, high-end medical devices, genetic testing, stem cell research, genetic medical services, integrated medical and elderly care services, traditional Chinese herbal extraction, health supplements, and health-focused foods.
The biopharmaceutical and medical device industries are promising industries with enormous potential. Efforts should be made to build on Hunan's actual conditions to strengthen policy support and industry regulation. We must fully leverage the guiding role of investment funds and, through financial empowerment, intensify efforts to attract, support, and nurture high-quality projects, thereby achieving deep integration and a virtuous cycle between industry and finance. We must establish a talent development framework, cultivate talent suited to a market-oriented industrial system, create an innovative environment for enterprises, and facilitate real-world application scenarios through a series of policies. The block must strengthen the development of public service platforms and focus on project attraction and enterprise cultivation. All departments should actively provide services, enhance their sense of responsibility, and take concrete actions to further foster a favorable ecosystem for industrial development. Enterprises must stay confident and determined to achieve long-term development through differentiated innovation, and work together to promote the growth and strengthening of Hunan's biopharmaceutical and medical device industries.
