The 2026 Changsha International Construction Equipment Exhibition (CICEE) — Africa Edition opened in Nairobi, Kenya on June 17 local time. According to data released by the organizing committee on the same day, the total signed amount on the first day reached 189.4 million USD, covering sectors such as construction machinery procurement, new energy vehicle promotion, and intelligent equipment cooperation.
The exhibition covered an area of 15,000 square meters, featuring multiple specialized exhibition zones and attracting over 300 companies to participate. The visits on the first day were estimated to be around 10,000. Leading domestic construction machinery enterprises such as XCMG, SANY, and Zoomlion all showcased their products. All exhibits were specially optimized for Africa's high temperatures, high dust levels, complex road conditions, and local fuel conditions. Among them, XCMG exhibited seven main pieces of equipment, with a focus on enhanced dust protection, heat dissipation, and power performance. SANY displayed four core equipment models, emphasizing the balance between operational efficiency and energy consumption. Zoomlion launched ten customized products covering such categories as earthmoving, lifting, and agricultural machinery, highlighting multi-functionality and adaptability to farms of different scales.
The exhibition was co-hosted by the Kenya Investment Authority, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the CICEE Organizing Committee. According to the organizing committee, the exhibition attracted over 1,300 professional buyers, with a buyer network covering 15 African countries including Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. Kenya's local engineering and mining procurement alliances also sent group delegations. This move has pre-established African procurement channels for the 5th CICEE in 2027.
The CICEE has been expanding overseas since 2023, with three Southeast Asia editions previously held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The cumulative exhibition area has exceeded 30,000 square meters, attracting over 360 companies to participate in total and generating over two billion CNY in sales. This Africa edition is the second overseas sub-show following Southeast Asia.
Relevant survey data shows that the current annual infrastructure investment scale in Africa is approximately 130 billion USD to 170 billion USD, with over 90% of equipment imported and strong demand for equipment renewal. Data from the Changsha Customs Authority shows that in the first five months of this year, Hunan Province's total exports of construction machinery reached 17.3 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 20.1%. The African market has become an important driver of growth for Hunan, with total exports to Africa reaching 2.55 billion CNY in the first five months, a sharp year-on-year increase of 85.2%.
