Located in the vast, rippling Xiangjiang River and surrounded by water on all sides, Orange Isle has a history of over 1,700 years and is known as the "No. 1 Isle in the World." In 1925, the then Chairman Mao Zedong wrote a poem titled "Spring in a Pleasure Garden — Changsha" here, further cementing Orange Isle's fame both at home and abroad.

Orange Isle features a flat, narrow, and elongated terrain, stretching about 6 kilometers from south to north and measuring just over 300 meters at its widest point. Formed by the swirling currents of the Xiangjiang River and the accumulation of silt and sediment, it is a river isle scenic area that integrates natural scenery, historic sites, and the culture of great figures. Centered around the themes of "ecology, culture, tourism, and leisure," the scenic area features attractions such as the Orange-praising Pavilion at the isle's head, the White Marble Poetry Stele, the Bronze Statue Square, the Pergola Square, the Memorial Site of Mao Zedong Swimming in the Xiangjiang River, the Lanyue Pavilion, the Zhenjiang Pavilion, the Bonsai Garden, and the Main Entrance Square. The Statue of Young Mao Zedong at the head of Orange Isle is currently the largest statue of Mao Zedong in the world.
