Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met in Changsha with Daniel Chapo, president of the Republic of Mozambique, and his entourage on April 17.

Secretary Shen welcomed the Mozambican guests on behalf of the
provincial Party committee and the provincial government. Secretary Shen
briefed the guests on Hunan Province. He noted that Hunan and African
countries, including Mozambique, have seen increasingly frequent and
in-depth exchanges and cooperation in recent years, thanks to the
establishment of the national-level platforms in Hunan, including the
China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Pioneering Zone for
In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. Hunan will
earnestly implement the important consensus reached between President Xi
Jinping and President Daniel Chapo, further strengthening exchanges and
cooperation with Mozambique in areas such as agriculture, trade and
economy, AI technology application, and education and training.
President Daniel Chapo expressed his gratitude for Hunan's hospitality
and noted he was delighted to visit Hunan, the hometown of the late
Chairman Mao Zedong. He was deeply impressed by Hunan's achievements in
advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and technological innovation. He
expressed his hope to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with
Hunan in infrastructure construction, automobile manufacturing,
agriculture, and education, continuously strengthening the friendship
between the two sides. He welcomed more Hunan enterprises to invest and
establish businesses in Mozambique, working together to achieve mutual
benefit and win-win outcomes.
During their stay in Hunan, President Daniel Chapo and his entourage
also visited Changsha, Xiangtan, and other locations. In Shaoshan, the
president laid a flower basket in front of the bronze statue of Comrade
Mao Zedong, and visited the memorial hall and the former residence of
Comrade Mao Zedong. Afterwards, the delegation visited Wasion Holdings
Limited, Zoomlion Intelligent Industrial Town, Xianing Port, Yihai Kerry
(Hunan) Oils, Grains & Foodstuffs Co., Ltd., and Sany Group.
President Daniel Chapo and his entourage learned about energy metering
and management, smart manufacturing, agricultural product processing,
and industrial upgrading. The delegation also attended the China
(Hunan)-Mozambique Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum.
The delegation included Mozambique's First Lady Getta Selemane Chapo,
Ambassador of Mozambique to China Manuel José Gonçalves, as well as
heads of relevant government departments. Chinese Ambassador to
Mozambique Zheng Xuan, along with provincial leaders Yu Hongsheng and
Xiao Bailing, attended relevant events.
