24 Solar Terms -- Qingming

2026-04-05 Download Print

Qingming, or Pure Brightness, the fourth of the 24 solar terms on the Chinese lunar calendar, begins on April 5 this year. It is usually accompanied by drizzles as vegetation wakes up from the long winter slumber. Qingming is the only solar term that also marks an important traditional festival—Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day. It carries additional significance as Chinese people honor their deceased family members and worship their ancestors.

A drizzling rain falls like tears on the Mourning Day;

The mourner's heart is going to break on his way.

Where can a wineshop be found to drown his sad hours?
