"I have visited Changsha twice, and it was the first city I ever visited in China. From its welcoming atmosphere and spicy food to the stunning night views and impressive skyscrapers, Changsha holds a very special place in my heart." Renowned Namibian actor Jacky Pop recently shared his story about Changsha with reporters.

Jacky Pop, who is also a filmmaker and executive producer, describes Changsha as a city where he has found friendship, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. What stands out most vividly in his memory is the genuine kindness he received from people he had never met. "I could share so many stories. For instance, there were times when complete strangers went out of their way to help me, which made me feel right at home," he recalled.

His connection with China was initially forged at the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), a trip facilitated by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Ministry of International Relations and Trade of Namibia. During that visit, he exchanged ideas with Chinese professionals to explore opportunities for creative and cultural collaboration, laying a solid foundation for his eventual return to Changsha.

In November 2025, Jacky Pop returned to Changsha to film the third season of his comedy series, Omunahambo Wange, in China. The title means "My Cattle Herder," and the series aims to promote Namibian humor and culture, starring Jacky Pop alongside Silver Bantuan. The show is co-produced by Films Icon and Chinese chief producer Zhou Suyue.

During his stay in Changsha, he also received medical care at Taihe Hospital, where he highly commended the kindness and professionalism of the medical team.

As an actor and filmmaker, he has also had contact with professionals and companies within Changsha's creative industry. "I have always found it incredibly easy to connect with the people of Changsha. I have made friends and met professionals across various fields," he noted.

For Jacky Pop, Changsha is more than a city he has just visited; it is a place where he has built genuine friendships, professional connections, and unforgettable memories. His experiences have further deepened his appreciation for the cultural ties between Namibia and China. Looking ahead, he aspires to serve as a global star ambassador for Changsha, leveraging his expertise as an African filmmaker and international content creator to promote the city to audiences in Namibia, across Africa, and around the world.
