At this Asian Para Games, 21 athletes from Hunan were selected for the Chinese delegation, competing in five major sports: blind judo, athletics, swimming, shooting, and weightlifting. Hunan athletes won a total of 19 gold, 3 silver, and 10 bronze medals, marking Hunan's best-ever performance at the Asian Para Games in both gold medal count and total medal count.
On the first competition day, Zhu Shiwen defeated an Indonesian athlete by ippon in only 45 seconds in the men's J1-70kg blind judo final, winning Hunan's first gold medal at this Asian Para Games. Shi Yijie then brought Hunan its second gold in the women's J1-60kg final.
The athletics field was the main gold medal battleground for Hunan athletes. Shi Yiting secured gold in the women's 100m T36 final with a new Asian Para Games record, and then added another gold in the 200m final, achieving "double golds." Zhou Xia claimed gold in the women's 200m T35, and then broke the Asian Para Games record in the 100m final with another gold.
