The white paper was jointly compiled by the National Climate Center, the Hunan Meteorological Service Center, and the Nanyue District Meteorological Bureau. It drew on 65-year surface meteorological observation data from 1961 to 2025, including data from the Nanyue National Reference Climate Station, the Hengshan National Basic Meteorological Station, and eight regional meteorological stations, providing a comprehensive assessment across dimensions such as climate comfort, ecological environment, and air quality.
Data show that the average temperature in the Hengshan Mountain Scenic Area is 20.8°C in summer, with the average summer temperature, average maximum temperature, and average minimum temperature all the lowest across the province. Days of comfort account for 98% of the annual total. In the urban area, daily maximum temperatures in 79% of winter days are above 5°C, with almost no severe cold days. These make the scenic area one of the few destinations in China that are ideal for both summer and winter wellness retreats. The annual average concentration of negative oxygen ions in the scenic area reaches 2,727 per cubic centimeter. Over the past three years, the proportion of days with good or excellent air quality has reached 91.7%. The forest coverage rate in the core scenic area is 92.51%; and the compliance rate of surface water quality is 100%.
On the same day, the Yunhe Senior Service Center, a key livelihood project in Nanyue District, was inaugurated and put into operation. The center adopts an integrated operating model of "basic government guarantees + market-oriented services + diversified health and wellness," providing services such as socialized eldercare, sojourn-based wellness, day care, and rehabilitation nursing, building a full-cycle, one-stop health and wellness service system.
