Hunan's exports of automobiles reached 219,000 in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 62.5%, setting a new record for growth. The total export value grew 30.7% to 27.96 billion CNY, accounting for 12.6% of the provincial total, the Changsha Customs Authority announced on September 18, 2026.

Recently, 235 Geely new energy vehicles were delivered from Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone to Egypt after going through the clearance model of consolidated declaration. Hunan's exports of electric vehicles continued to grow, thanks to the strong overseas demand for electric vehicles. The province exported 92,367 electric vehicles during the January-August period, rising 53.4% and accounting for 42.1% of the provincial total automobile exports. The export value increased 21.4% to 9.75 billion CNY, accounting for 34.9% of the provincial total automobile export value. Among them, passenger vehicle exports accounted for over 80% of the volume, and the export value of pure electric buses (10 seats and above) was 280 million CNY, up 177.2%.

Belarus, Malaysia, and Russia were the top three export markets. Between January and August this year, Hunan exported 47,818 automobiles to Belarus, up 185.6%. Its exports to Malaysia and Russia were 44,958 and 19,581 vehicles, climbing 125.8% and 536.4% respectively. During the same period, its export volumes to Armenia, Cambodia, and Egypt surged 25.6 times, 8.7 times, and 4 times respectively.

Changsha and Xiangtan together accounted for 86.4% of Hunan's total automobile export value. Changsha, relying on BYD, led in the export value of new energy passenger vehicles; Xiangtan's Geely ranked first in the province for complete vehicle export volume. Huaihua's exports of vehicles surged to 20,142, an increase of 217.9 times. Its export value rocketed up 126.5 times to 1.71 billion CNY.
