Hunan currently holds 451 GI products, and 3,100 enterprises have been authorized for use of a GI special symbol. The territorial area of these GI products spans 113 counties, county-level cities and urban districts across 13 cities and one autonomous prefecture province-wide. The GI-based advantageous industrial clusters have achieved an annual output value of nearly 100 billion CNY.

GI products are distinctive treasures nurtured by the land and waters of a region, and are high-quality public brands that integrate natural endowments with cultural heritage. In recent years, Hunan has focused on the cultivation, protection, and brand management of GI products, continuously strengthening policy guidance, standards-based support, leading role of demonstration products, and rights protection. It has promoted the standardized, branded, and large-scale development of the GI industry, enabling a number of "Hunan brands" to break through geographical limitations, seize market opportunities, and make their debut on the international stage.

With GI standards guiding its development, Shaping Xiang embroidery, or Hunan embroidery, now has 32 enterprises authorized to use the special symbol, with an annual output value of 250 million CNY. It has won favor in domestic and international markets with its exquisite craftsmanship and quality.
As a typical representative of underglaze polychrome technique, Liling porcelain holds three GI certification trademarks, one GI protected product, and 18 international trademarks registered under the WIPO Madrid System. It has appeared on many diplomatic occasions, demonstrating the strength and charm of Hunan's GI products.

This press tour will visit Changsha, Liling, Anhua, Hanshou, Sangzhi, and other places to explore a number of high-quality GI industries with distinctive Hunan characteristics, comprehensively explore the practical cases of GI-empowered upgrading of specialty industries, boost the residents' income and prosperity, and enhance the quality and efficiency of county-level economies.
