What sparks fly when passengers encounter a Yiyang folk show? On August 12, the 2026 "Weekly City Shows (Yiyang)" cultural performance event is being held at the departure hall of Terminal 2 at Changsha Huanghua International Airport.
The 15th Games of Hunan Province and the 12th Provincial Games for Persons with Disabilities will be held in Yiyang City. To help more travelers know and learn about Yiyang, the city is staging four rounds of folk performances daily from August 12 to 14. The Yiyang Flower Drum Cheerleading Team presents a medley blending flower drum culture with pop music and dance. Yiyang Tanci performers sing in local dialect while playing yueqin. Nanxian Folk Flower-drum Dance performers stage performances to pray for a bountiful year and to express a maiden's yearning for love. An excerpt from "Bamboo Sea Illusion" enables travelers to appreciate the elegant aesthetics of Qu Yuan's writings. An excerpt from "Moon Over the Yuanshui River" portrays deep love between Fan Li and Xi Shi. There are also tea-picking dance and Tea Horse Road Nuo dance.
The event also features five exhibition booths showcasing Yiyang's cultural and tourism resources--Anhua dark tea, flower drum creative cultural products, Taojiang bamboo-themed toys, and Tea Horse Road-themed souvenirs. Passengers can browse the booths, taste local delicacies, enjoy shopping, and even win prizes waiting for their flights—exploring the charm of Yiyang up close.
