The 2026 'Vibrant China' Media Tour in Hunan, organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, was launched in Changsha on August 10. Over 120 journalists from central media outlets such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and China Media Group, as well as industry-specific and provincial media outlets, will visit Changsha, Zhuzhou, Huaihua, Zhangjiajie, and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Over the next six days, they will conduct research and interviews focusing on Hunan's achievements in such areas as diverse and coordinated consumption landscape across the province, the deep integration of culture and technology, and the mutual pursuit between industrial upgrading and consumption expansion. The event aims to present the vibrant dynamism of Hunan's high-quality development from multiple angles and in a comprehensive manner.

At the briefing session held on the same day, the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee provided an overview of the province's general situation. Relevant departments, including the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, the Development and Reform Commission of Hunan Province, the Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province, the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province, and the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, presented Hunan's distinctive practices and notable achievements in areas such as consumer markets, industrial development, sci-tech innovation, and the integration of culture and tourism. Participating expert representatives also shared their observations and insights on Hunan's development achievements in these fields, based on their own research.

"Hunan is a major consumer province and a model demonstration area for consumption upgrading, with a wealth of experiences in boosting consumption," said Gong Jun'an, assistant researcher at the Economic Research Institute of the Academy of Macroeconomic Research under the National Development and Reform Commission. He noted that Hunan has introduced a series of policies and plans to encourage and promote consumption growth, leveraging local culture to support its products and creating a distinctive consumer brand that has won over consumers nationwide.

In recent years, Hunan has focused on cultivating diverse consumption scenarios, with trendy urban shopping, casual dining, and cultural and sports-themed night tours together driving a rise in consumption across both urban and rural areas. The province has leveraged the effect of the tourism development conference and its unique tourism resources to develop itself into a year-around destination with picturesque scenery. Its lucid waters and lush mountains are being transformed into invaluable assets that attract numerous tourists and boost consumption. Meanwhile, Hunan has been consistently focusing on the blueprint of "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" strategy, strengthening its three world-class industrial clusters—construction machinery, rail transit, and aerospace—and solidifying the foundation of its advanced manufacturing sector. The province has accelerated breakthroughs in key core technologies and has rapidly transformed sci-tech advances into high-quality products. Channels for opening up to the outside world continue to expand, and the vitality of commercial distribution is steadily increasing.

The journalists participating in the media tour noted that they will delve deep into Hunan's dynamic practices and significant achievements in the fields of consumption and innovation, and will innovate communication channels and expressions to showcase the new momentum of Hunan's high-quality development.
