Are you willing to contribute to protecting lucid waters and lush mountains and building a beautiful Hunan? Recently, the Ecology and Environment Department of Hunan Province released the 2026 Hunan Provincial Eco-Environmental Volunteer Service List, launching 18 regular eco-environmental volunteer service projects and recruiting environmental volunteers from the whole society to carry out concentrated volunteer service activities from August to December.

The released volunteer service projects cover multiple cities, including Changsha, Xiangtan, Shaoyang, and Changde. The projects are diverse with distinct regional characteristics, encompassing six major service areas: water protection, mountain protection, forest protection, bird protection, legal education, and science popularization and education, suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds.

River and lake protection is a key area of the volunteer services. Changsha Ningxiang's "He Xiao Qing: Protecting the Yangtze River" project covers 29 townships and sub-districts citywide, coordinating with resident river chief teams to conduct river patrol and clean-up volunteer services. Changsha universities' "Greenery Along the Nine Bends" will focus on the banks of the Liuyang River, creating a replicable river and lake management model. Yiyang will launch the "Protecting the Zijiang River with Zero Waste" river patrol action, focusing on garbage cleanup and water quality monitoring at the Grade I drinking water source area of the Zijiang River. Chenzhou's Yongxing County will simultaneously establish a "He Xiao Qing" youth river and lake volunteer team to regularly clean up garbage along the Bianjiang River banks and conduct legal education on environmental protection.

Forests and biodiversity protection projects highlight Hunan's ecological characteristics. Changsha's Yuelu Mountain will launch a youth volunteer activity for protecting green spaces and cleaning up mountains, carrying out garbage cleanup and civilized behavior guidance in the form of challenge-based practice. Ningxiang will establish a three-level forest protection volunteer system at the city, township, and village levels, providing services such as tree planting and mountain fire prevention. Shaoyang will focus on the protection of the rare crested ibis in the Langshan Mountain area. The "Safeguarding Migratory Birds" project at Dongjiang Lake Wetland in Chenzhou, which is rooted in the "Millennium Bird Trail," will organize youth bird watching patrols and carry out bird-loving science popularization.

Residents are encouraged to independently select and register for the programs based on their own schedules and interests.
