Recently, the National Manufacturing Innovation Center for High-end Construction Machinery ( referred to as the "National Manufacturing Innovation Center") received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for its establishment. The center will be jointly built by Changsha City of Hunan Province and Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province. This marks a crucial step for Hunan in gathering innovative resources and integrating into the national manufacturing innovation system.

The National Innovation Center will be jointly set up by Hunan Guozhong Zhilian Construction Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (GZZL) and Jiangsu Advanced Construction Machinery Innovation Center Co., Ltd. (ACMIC). GZZL, led by the Changsha Municipal People's Government, is co-founded by 14 entities, including SANY, Zoomlion, CRCHI, Sunward, and Sinoboom—five of the world's top 50 construction machinery manufacturers—along with core supporting enterprises. ACMIC highlights such areas as new energy transmission, digital hydraulic systems, and intelligent control systems for complex working conditions, independently developing a variety of core component products. The two centers will leverage their complementary strengths and work in synergy.

According to the arrangement, GZZL will center around common foundational technologies for high-end construction machinery such as new materials and processes, reliability, and remanufacturing, as well as unmanned intelligent control technologies, bridging the "last mile" from laboratory to production line. ACMIC will focus on high-reliability heavy-load new energy transmission technologies and components, precise and efficient digital hydraulic systems and components, fault diagnosis and intelligent operation and maintenance, and other key technological research and achievement transformation applications.

The National Innovation Center will build a collaborative innovation platform around four core capabilities: technological research and development, pilot-scale manufacturing, testing and certification, and achievement transformation. It will concentrate efforts on overcoming key common technologies, optimize the collaborative innovation ecosystem of the fully independent industrial chain, accelerate the domestic substitution of core components, and drive the industrial chain from "controllable" to "independent" and from "following" to "leading."
