Hunan boasts a complete industrial system covering photovoltaics, energy storage, new energy vehicles, and power transmission and transformation equipment, and has rolled out a series of specialized policies to support financing and foreign trade engagement in these sectors. Meanwhile, multiple banks, funds, and credit insurance institutions have established a comprehensive cross-border financial service system. Africa now has a window of opportunity in an environment where the overlap of industrialization and energy transition has led to a huge power gap. Possessing over 30% of the world's critical new energy mineral resources, Africa has a strong supply-demand complementarity with Hunan's new energy industry chain.
The Hunan New Energy Industry Alliance for Africa was established during the 2026 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in Africa (Morocco) in June. The alliance is led by leading enterprises in Hunan's new energy industry chain, uniting upstream and downstream companies to join forces to expand globally. The alliance aims to promote the upgrade of advantageous products from single-item exports to comprehensive scenario-based solutions, to enhance local operations and localized service capabilities, and to steadily increase market share in Africa.
Next, the alliance will take the initiative to expand project matchmaking channels, linking with central enterprises, leading overseas mining companies, and energy authorities in African countries. The alliance will also organize delegations to conduct business negotiations in Africa to reduce the cost of market exploration and customer acquisition for enterprises.
The alliance will strive to burnish the brand of Hunan's new energy enterprises. It will leverage the upcoming CAETE event in South Africa in the second half of this year and the flagship event of the fifth CAETE which will be held next year to build an exclusive display and matchmaking platform, and will actively participate in local energy project bidding in Africa.
The alliance will fulfill its responsibility for coordinated development within the alliance, guiding enterprises to operate in compliance and engage in differentiated competition to avoid price war in overseas markets.
It will also strengthen cross-border financial support, building a comprehensive risk protection network to safeguard enterprises' overseas operations.
At the July 21 event, seven institutions, namely the SANY Group, HNAC Technology, Red Solar New Energy, ZMEV, Wasion Energy Technology, and the China-Africa In-Depth Economic and Trade Cooperation Service Fund, presented their new energy cooperation projects with Africa. The entities shared proven projects and new cooperation plans in areas such as photovoltaic energy storage, new energy vehicles (NEVs), power equipment, and cross-border finance, showcasing Hunan's new energy industry's technology, products, and comprehensive service capabilities tailored to the African market.
Several benchmark projects, such as the SANY Silicon Energy's microgrid at the mining area in Guinea and Red Solar’s large-scale photovoltaic storage power station in Nigeria, have been operating stably. These projects have effectively solved local power shortage problems, demonstrating the strong capabilities of Hunan's new energy industry in global expansion.
