The Jiulongling Tunnel, a critical control project of the Quanmutang Reservoir, was drilled through on June 28, laying a solid foundation for the timely completion of the entire project. The reservoir is Hunan's largest single-structure water conservancy project constructed by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group.
The Quanmutang Reservoir is located in the middle and upper reaches of the Zijiang River in Shaoyang City. The project is primarily focused on irrigation, while also integrating urban and rural water supply, as well as comprehensive uses such as navigation and power generation. Upon completion, the project will optimize regional water resource allocation and alleviate water shortages in the central area of the "Hengyang-Shaoyang Arid Corridor." It holds significant importance for ensuring food security, guaranteeing the safety of domestic water supplies for local residents, and improving the ecological environment of waterways within the irrigation area.
