With fragrant wormwood and calamus and the aroma of zongzi in the air, the Duanwu or Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching. To ease holiday travel, Changsha Metro will extend operating hours across its entire network until midnight on June 18 (the day before the holiday) and June 19 (the Duanwu Festival). Specifically, the section from Hongqiao Station to Xiangtan North Station on Metro Line 3 will be extended to 23:00.

During the holiday, Changsha Metro will enhance information sharing with Changsha South Railway Station and monitor nighttime passenger arrivals in advance. After regular service ends, it will operate Metro Line 2 convenience shuttle trains as needed to help passengers reach the city center at night.
Metro Line 1 and 2 to operate combined long and short routes
Between 10:00 and 23:00 from June 19 to June 21, the Metro Line 1 will operate a mix of a long route from Shangshuangtang Station to Jinpengqiu Station and a short route from Shangshuangtang Station to Kaifu District Government Station. The Metro Line 2 will operate a mix of a long route from Guangda Station to West Meixi Lake Station and a short route from Guangda Station to Yingwanzhen Station. Passengers on short-route trains should get off at the temporary terminal (Kaifu District Government / Yingwanzhen), wait on the same platform for the next train, and continue to subsequent stations.

Ensuring holiday transport capacity
Ahead of the holiday, Changsha Metro has organized professionals to conduct safety hazard inspections on communication, signaling, power supply, and electromechanical equipment, and performed meticulous checks and repairs on in-service and standby trains. To handle the early surge in evening peak passenger flow the day before the holiday, Changsha Metro will add more trains and shorten peak-hour headways to further enhance its network transport capacity, creating a smooth and efficient travel environment for passengers.

Strengthening passenger flow organization
During the holiday, all stations across the metro network will offer services such as ticket purchasing assistance and route guidance. The staff members will step up equipment inspections to make holiday travel more convenient and comfortable. Stations such as Wuyi Square, Orange Isle, Changsha South Railway Station, and Hunan University will also assign additional support staff at key passenger flow points. If necessary, they will implement measures such as reversing escalator directions and keeping gates open based on real-time passenger flow conditions to ensure safe and orderly operations.
