Deepening Hunan-Africa Cooperation to Promote Mutual Benefit and Win-Win Progress

From June 9 to 12, Yu Hongsheng, vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, led a delegation to visit Morocco and attend a series of activities of the 2026 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Africa (Morocco), promoting deeper and more substantive Hunan-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

With the theme "China and Africa: Together for a Shared Future," this expo was Hunan's first major overseas economic and trade event in Africa since China fully implemented a zero-tariff policy for 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations starting from May 1 this year. At the opening ceremony, over 400 representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, the Hunan Delegation, Morocco's Ministry of Industry and Commerce, China-Africa financial institutions, enterprises, and media outlets participated, signing multiple cooperation agreements and establishing the Hunan New Energy Industry Alliance for Africa, thereby boosting the upgrading of China-Africa and Hunan-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

On June 9, Vice Governor Yu presided over the China (Hunan)–Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium. Representatives from over 40 government departments, enterprises, and business associations participated, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Chinese Embassy in Morocco, Chinese enterprises such as Huawei, China Road and Bridge Corporation, and Hunan Sino-Maroc Mining Co., Ltd., as well as the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in North Africa, the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in East Africa, and the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Morocco. They engaged in in-depth discussions and reached a series of cooperation intentions.

During the visit, Yu Hongsheng and his delegation led leading Hunan enterprises such as Sany Group and Hunan International Trade Group to successively call on Moroccan government agencies and leading enterprises, including the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, the Bank of Africa, the Office Chérifien des Phosphates Group, and the Al Mada Group. They conducted in-depth negotiations in areas such as financial services, the phosphate industrial chain, and new energy projects, achieving a series of cooperation intentions.
