The Foreigner's Work Permit is a work authorization certificate issued by the Chinese government to eligible foreigners, to regulate the employment of foreign talents in China. It is an essential legal document for lawful employment in China. Effective since December 1, 2024, the Foreigner's Work Permit has been integrated with the Social Security Card. By embedding the Foreigner's Work Permit information in the Social Security Card, the card allows foreigners working in China to access more convenient and efficient services. Following this integration, the physical work permit will no longer be issued. Through system integration, the work permit number and associated information will be embedded in the digital social security card, achieving the fusion of permit and card. Both the "Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit" and the digital Social Security Card serve as valid proof for foreigners to obtain work authorization.
