Secretary Du, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, welcomed the guests. He said, “Although Hunan and Germany are far apart geographically, there has been extensive cooperation and exchanges between both sides. Germany is Hunan's largest trading partner in Europe. A group of well-known German companies have invested or settled down in Hunan. Many competitive Hunan enterprises also expand their business in Germany.” He continued, “Both sides have deepen collaboration in the sectors of Industry 4.0, intelligent connected vehicle, biomedicine, household products, exhibition services, and culture and education. We both have placed advanced manufacturing in an important position for development. We share many common interests and there is huge space for cooperation and broad prospects in the future.” He expected the ambassador’ visit to Hunan would be a new starting point for both sides, to further strengthen all-round cooperation between Hunan and Germany in various fields. Both sides will establish a communication and exchange mechanism, promote cooperation to a higher level, and work together for win-win results, he added.

Goetze noted that German-Chinese high-level reciprocal visits are frequent, enterprise exchanges close, and non-governmental communication expanding. He stated, “I am willing to keep working hard to bridge the gap and better serve German and Hunan collaboration. I will work hard to push forward exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the fields of advanced equipment manufacturing, intelligent connected vehicle, education and culture, and to promote common development.”

Provincial leaders Hu Henghua and Zhang Jianfei also attended.
