Planting Trees on Arbor Day

The zoo launched a parent-child tree planting activity ahead of the Arbor Day. More than 10 households across the province have participated in.

An activity themed on “In the Name of Earth to Protect the Blue Sky” was held along the banks of Liuyang River on March 10. More than 100 volunteers participated in, with 320 trees planted. The event was hosted by Dongsha Community, Furong District, Changsha City. (Photo/Xu Xing)

Background information:
The Arbor Day in China was founded by the famous forestry scientist Lin Dao-yang in 1915. In 1929, the date for Arbor Day was changed to March 12 to commemorate Sun Yat-sen. Since then, China celebrates Arbor Day on March 12.
