Changsha, Ölfus Intend to Establish Friendly City Relationship

China (Changsha)-Iceland Economic, Trade and Culture Workshop was held at Reykjavik, capital of Iceland, on Oct. 17 and 18, 2016. Changsha and Ölfus reached a letter of intent for establishment of friendly city relationship on the occasion. Member of standing committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Yi Lianhong sent a massage of congratulation. Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Zhang Weidong, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Iceland Ragnheiður ElínÁrnadóttir, and Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Iceland in China Ragnar Baldursson attended and addressed the event.


Both Changsha and Ölfus boast livable environment, advanced science and technology education, and solid industrial foundation. The two cities will take this opportunity to further complete the bilateral cooperation and exchange mechanism, especially long-term, stable and all-sided collaborations in the fields of economy, culture, ecological construction, and tourism.

 
A batch of key cooperative projects were contracted, including intent for cooperation between the Economic Development Zone of Yuhua District and the Asbru Industrial Park, and BYD Auto and Gray Line Iceland (coach service), and Changsha Zhengzhong Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Gray Line Iceland (tour). Beyond that, Huatian Hotel planned to collaborate with Iceland in international hot spring hotel construction, and geothermal resources exploration and utilization.


The Changsha People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries signed a letter of intent for cooperation with the Iceland Cultural Association.
