Changsha County Seeks More Cooperation with the ASEAN

Changsha county, Hunan province, increases its economic and trade cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Already on March 28, Serial Economic and Trade Activities, partnering project of Hunan-Xingsha and ASEAN, will be activated.

 

The Deputy County Magistrate, Yang Li, says that series of the activities will take part throughout the year.

 

From March 28 to April 1, 23 envoys and enterprise representatives from 10 Asian countries, including ambassadors from Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines, will visit Xingsha, the industrial and commercial center of Changsha county. The county will release and promote 70 projects in equipment manufacturing, automobile production, electronic information, new material products and infrastructure.

 

Throughout the period July - October, Changsha county delegation will visit the ASEAN countries where it will hold special events promoting project match-making. In October, as well, an ASEAN-Hunan Commodities Fair will be held in Changsha Red Star International Exhibition Center.

 

Changsha county's foreign trade volume with the ASEAN reached $300 million in 2015, showing 60 percent increase compared to the previous year. The number of auto vehicles exported mainly to the ASEAN market was 13,000, accounting for 48 percent of total Hunan auto exports.

 

This county has, by now, established 50 projects with the ASEAN countries, with the total worth of $3.5 billion.

 

As one of the 18 national model areas for reforms and opening-up, Changsha county has, with its comprehensive strength, managed to keep the leading position among the central and western China counties for eight consecutive years.
