Laos Prime Minister Inspects Hunan

Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith led a delegation to inspect Hunan Province from Nov. 29 to 30, 2016. Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Du Jiahao met with the guests, and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Acting Governor of Hunan Province Xu Dazhe accompanied them on related inspection tours.

The delegation attended a seminar to learn about the development of Xiangjiang New Area during their stay in Hunan. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith praised that the province has made great economic and social progress since his last trip to Hunan 15 years ago. Laos expected to learn more about Hunan’s development experiences, especially those related to Xiangjiang New Area, and looked forward to promoting communication and cooperation with Hunan in various fields based on the “Belt and Road” initiative, so as to continuously achieve win-win results, he added.

Secretary Du, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, welcomed the Laos delegation to visit Hunan. He briefed on Hunan’s profound regional advantages, sound industrial foundation, advanced technology and education resources, and great market potential. In particular, its rapid development of engineering machinery, rail transit, electronic information, new materials, automobile manufacturing, and hybrid rice industries has provided great cooperation opportunities for both sides, he said, adding that Hunan will seize the great opportunity of the national “Belt and Road” initiative and continuously expand bilateral pragmatic collaboration in such fields as economy and trade, culture, tourism, and agriculture with Laos, and encourage more Hunan enterprises to invest in Laos to achieve mutual benefit and common development.

The Laos delegation visited the Lu Valley Phase Ⅱ of Broad Homes Industrial International Co., Ltd., Longping Hi-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd., CES Software Park, Yuelu Academy, and the former residence of Chairman Mao Zedong. They also tried the high-speed train to experience Chinese “high-speed rail”.
