The 2017 National Reading Campaign was launched in Changsha on April 19, 2017. Wu Shangzhi, deputy head of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Cai Zhenhong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended the launching ceremony.
Director Cai addressed the ceremony. He said that Hunan will take the ceremony as a new starting point to encourage more people to join this Campaign, so as to make new progress in making Hunan a cultural power.
Hunan Publishing Investment Holding Co., Ltd., China Post Hunan Branch, and China Reading Limited together donated 300,000 books to libraries in rural areas to promote mass reading.
