Located in Xiangtan, Hunan province---the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong (founder of the PRC), Hunan Urban Construction College is a higher institute owned and run by the state. After getting the approval from Hunan provincial government and putting on records in the Ministry of Education, the college was formally founded in April. 2003. Consisting of two campuses (Gaoxing and Xinghu), Hunan Urban Construction College has 10 teaching departments and 28 specialties. The total number of students nearly reaches 8,000. With a total floor area of 60,000 square meters, this project is to be finished by two stages. The first stage, mainly on the land expropriation, house demolition and resettlement, as well as “Three Acesses and One Levelling (Access of water, gas and electricity, levelling of land), is for the building of 10,000 square meters of experiment and training mansion and another 10,000 square meters of library. While the second stage’s 40,000 square meters building area includes the following: teaching building (10,000 square meters), computer center (6,000 square meters), building for adult education (5,000 square meters), outdoor sports facility (8,000 square meters), scientific designing building (4,000 square meters) and mating facilities such as office building and restaurant (7,000 square meters).
