Fangguang Temple

Located at the foot of the Lianhua Peak, Fangguang Temple is well-known for the high mountains nearby, the lush bushes around the temple, and the profound cultural origin. It was built in Han Dynasty (503 BC), ranking the earliest ancient temple in Mount Hengshan. Er'xian Ancestral Temple was constructed in the nearby area in honor of the two famous physicists Zhu Xi and Zhang Shi. The area also boasts a natural forest called Lion hill, featured with centuries-old pines, magnificent waterfall and lovely creeks. Under the peak are several ponds, such as Yellow Sand Pond, White Sand Pond, and Black Sand Pond. The Black Sand Pond is a mysterious holy land, where people come to pray for plenty of rain for a good harvest season.
