Peking Opera Protection and Inheritance Center of Hunan

Peking Opera Protection and Heritage Center of Hunan (Hunan Provincial Peking Opera Troupe) is located in Changsha, an ancient city with beautiful scenery. It is the only professional Peking Opera performance troupe in Hunan. Currently there are 138 cast members, including 57 with intermediate and senior art titles. In 2005, the center was honored as the National Provincial Key Peking Opera Troupe by the Ministry of Culture (today's Ministry of Culture and Tourism). Peking Opera was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations in 2010.

 

Over the years, its cast members have achieved remarkable results in various art competitions inside and outside the province. They won the gold, silver and bronze prizes in the Mei Lanfang Gold Award, the National Peking Opera Competition for Outstanding Young Actors, and the CCTV's National TV Competition for Young Peking Opera Performers. The troupe has been performed abroad for many times, including commercial performances in Indonesia and Japan, to spread the Peking Opera art to the world.
