The Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall, Yuhua District, Changsha is located at No. 198, East Shanmuchong Road, Hongxing Commercial Circle, Yuhua District, Changsha. It has a floor area of 12,000 square meters. It is China’s first comprehensive intangible cultural heritage platform that integrates the functions of exhibition, performance, education, learning, and exchange.

This four-storey hall has a construction area of 48,000 square meters. The first floor is the Hunan Folk Culture Center, featuring “master studio”, “Xiangxi cultural street”, and “college students entrepreneurship street”. The second floor is an exhibition and performance center for national featured handicrafts. The third floor is an exhibition and experience center for international intangible cultural heritage products. The Africa Pavilion, Southeast Asia Pavilion, and Europe Pavilion are set up there to promote international cultural exchanges. The fourth floor is a place that integrates catering, entertainment and performance.

The hall is the largest among over 10 intangible cultural heritage halls built in Changsha, with the widest range of intangible cultural heritage categories. It is open to the public free of charge. In addition to holding various exhibitions, it also offers free lectures and teaching and learning activities concerning traditional Chinese culture and intangible cultural heritages.

 

The hall has gathered more than 300 intangible cultural heritage projects including 10 world-class and 55 national-level projects, and more than 1,000 kinds of handicrafts. It has attracted more than 200 intangible cultural heritage inheritors, and received many foreign visitors including students, social organizations, and government leaders.

Today, the Hall is not only an important window for foreign friends to know about Changsha and Hunan, but also a shining cultural calling card of Changsha. It also serves as a bridge for fine traditional Chinese culture and traditional handicrafts to go global.
