A youth delegation from Kagoshima City of Japan visited Changsha between October 17 and 22.
On the evening of October 17, Kong Yiping, deputy director of the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee; and Liu Fang, vice president of the Changsha People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, met with the delegates and welcomed them.
Deputy Director Kong Yiping said that Kagoshima is one of Changsha’s key sister cities. For a long time, the two cities have had frequent youth exchanges, adding vitality to the friendship of the two cities. He believed that this visit will be more meaningful as this year marks the “China-Japan Youth Exchange Promotion Year”.
A welcome ceremony was held at CS Foreign Languages School on the morning of October 18. Vice president Liu Fang attended and delivered a speech. She said that various activities had been arranged for the delegates, including having cultural exchanges with CS Foreign Languages School, living with local families, and touring the city.
She hoped that they could feel the warmth and charm of Changsha through watching unique traditional Chinese cultural performances such as tea ceremony, calligraphy and paper cutting; experiencing colorful campus cultural activities; and, living with local families.
She also hoped that they would have a pleasant stay in Changsha and serve as envoys of friendship to continue and deepen the friendship between the two cities.
