China-Thailand (Changsha) Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum 2019 Opens in Changsha

On September 21, the China-Thailand (Changsha) Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum 2019 was held in Changsha. 
The forum is an important window for Hunan’s opening up to the outside world under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. It is a platform for Hunan’s equipment manufacturing enterprises to enter Thailand and move towards ASEAN. 
Phinij Jarusombat, former deputy prime minister of Thailand and chairman of the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association; Phinit Boonlert, Governor of Pathum Thani Province of Thailand; and, Changsha Deputy Mayor Qiu Jixing, all attended.
The forum was co-hosted by Pathum Thani Province of Thailand and the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce. It was supported by the Changsha Municipal People’s Government. 
The forum had nine parts including a tour, project matchmaking, and an exchange meeting. More than 1,000 representatives from Chinese and Thai governments, friendship associations and enterprises participated. 
Changsha and Thailand have achieved major results in economic and trade cooperation. From January to August this year, bilateral trade between the two places totaled 387 million USD, up 32.12% from last year. Changsha’s imports with Thailand were 178 million USD, up 156.3%.
