Yueyang Included in Top 100 Chinese Cities by GDP

Recently, various cities across China have announced their GDP in 2020. According to the latest data, Yueyang was one of the Top 100 Chinese cities by GDP, ranking the 59th place.

When confronted by the sudden onslaught of COVID-19 and the complex and severe domestic and foreign economic situation last year, Yueyang has insisted on coordinating regular epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development; focusing on the goal of “building itself a veritable second strongest economic city in Hunan”; and, doing well in making sure stability in 6 key areas and effectively meeting 6 priorities. Yueyang has achieved remarkable results on pandemic prevention and control, and its economic operation has shown a steady recovery and continued improvement.

In 2020, Yueyang’s regional GDP exceeded 400 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 400.155 billion yuan and ranking second in Hunan, an increase of 4.2% over the previous year. It ranks 59th among 338 cities across China, which is one place higher than 2019. It ranked 11th among 82 prefecture-level cities in the six provinces in central China, and 6th among 31 prefecture-level cities in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
